The goals of Satan

I have to say...As a minister and Christian, this is one of the most disturbing, creepy threads I've ever read. No wonder so many people are running away from church and religion. This is not religious belief. It's mental illness.

I had cancer at 45. Bad cancer, terrible prognosis.
My spouse has had two strokes. He’s 48 and fit. Why?
One of our kids is very ill. It’s disheartening.

Not all illness comes from Satan. Illness and disease occurs in humans regularly.

But 3 major illnesses in 2 years? In 2 adults under 50 and a 19 year old?

Definitely feel as if Satan is trying to get me to give up on God.

My therapist asks me how I keep my faith. She isn’t a Christian. I sense she feels many would.

No, I cling closer to the Savior. His victory over death, His love for us, it’s really all I have right now.

I can’t be angry at God. Satan would love for me to be.

You are strong to keep your faith. I had a difficult childhood and then cancer also a few years ago. My child had a very bad accident. It hurts to keep enduring so much pain. Prayers for good health to you and your family.

Why do you assume these punishments are from Satan? Maybe god is punishing you.

My religion does not teach that God “punishes” people by hurting or killing them.

Does yours?

Christianity absolutely teaches this. So you’re not a Christian, then, correct?

I guess your feel-good, deny all that is in Scriptures brand of Christianity should make us feel reassured. Luckily the Bible warns us:

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition"

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils"

Yes. This. How can you follow Christ if you're fixated in trying to hunt down Satan? Guess what? Its us and our sin. We need to just embrace Christ and to our best to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly. And to love and worship God, love our neighbors, and care for the "least of these."

No. Satan is not in us. Satan is a real supernatural being that tries to separate us from God. Trying to deny that is directly denying what's written in the Bible. But if we have learned anything from this discussion is that many so called Christians pay lip service to the Bible.

I don’t see you actually using scripture to make your point; you’re just insulting people.

So, I need to Google it for you? Or do you want me to buy you a Bible? Stating facts is not insulting. Here you go:

Fixating on Satan is not critical to A Christian life. It’s not clear from scripture exactly who or what Satan is. No one in this thread said Satan did not exist, just that y’all are being weird and creepy, and if a minister is telling you that perhaps it’s time to reflect.

Hahaha, "minister"...
Regarding Satan, this thread is about him, so I discuss him. Regarding other topics, you have not read the Bible and are not worth engaging with. You have second-hand knowledge of Christianity at best, at worst you are just dabbling.

I read that line before. You used it on another thread once you run out of superficial arguments. No one is forcing you to click on these threads.
