Master thread: companies giving bonuses/raising minimum wage/investing in workers

The better thing would have been to just reform the corporate rate, and leave the personal untouched. They were low enough.

But can you imagine the screaming the libs would have done then?

Remember, this is something the Democrats said would not happen with tax cuts.
And, remember...... mid terms are coming up so the Dems will do whatever is necessary to distract from good economic news.

Right. Tax hikes will be felt in 2019. After midterm elections.

You sound like Nancy Pelosi. Or, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. A little out of touch, perhaps?

but ^PP has a point. People are going gaga over $1000 one time bonus while the uber rich get a 6% tax cut for eight years. It is kind of humiliating.

Interesting.
Back in Dec., 2011, Pelosi was promoting a payroll tax cut by Obama with this tweet:

"Today's agreement is a victory for the American people-they spoke out clearly & #40dollars each paycheck will make a difference.”

Wow, what a difference a change in administration can make. #HypocriteNancyPelosi

whoosh.. that's the sound of the point going over your head.....

It's not about the amount of the bonus or increase in wages in and of itself, like in the case you mention. It's about the fact that the 1% got a MUCH bigger tax cut than the middle, and the one time bonus (as nice as it is) is not the same as an on-going huge tax cut for the rich.

It's all relative. That's the point. If they got the bonus and $1/hour increase while the uber rich also got just a tiny increase, then that's fair. But, this lop sided tax cut and "give away" is otherwise pretty insulting to the middle class by the Rs.

So, you are upset that we no longer have the largest corporate tax in the developed world? Yeah, that is something to run on for the Democrats.

? You do understand the difference between a corporate tax cut and the personal income tax cuts, right? Where in any of my post did I refer to the corporate tax cut? Something is off all right... your reading comprehension skills.

And, the whole point of this thread is about companies giving bonuses/wage increases because..............corporate tax cuts. Duh! (read the title of the thread)

And? It doesn't change the fact that the uber rich are getting a better deal than the middle class, which was my point about the $1000 one time bonus.

I don't think they'd have made nearly as much of a stink if this had happened. I'm not a liberal. I am a former R. We didn't need the tax cut for the uber rich to spur the economy. Capital gains tax is what helps with more business investments, not personal tax cuts. But a tax cut for the middle class could help spur the economy given that our economy is 70% driven by consumer spending. The huge tax cut for the 1% wouldn't make as much of a difference to economic growth compared to a 6% tax cut for the middle to upper middle class since they are the bulk of our society, not the 1%. It's not about total spending per person, but about total spending by all.
