We didn't need the tax cut for the uber rich to spur the economy. Capital gains tax is what helps with more business investments, not personal tax cuts. But a tax cut for the middle class could help spur the economy given that our economy is 70% driven by consumer spending. The huge tax cut for the 1% wouldn't make as much of a difference to economic growth compared to a 6% tax cut for the middle to upper middle class since they are the bulk of our society, not the 1%. It's not about total spending per person, but about total spending by all. [/quote]
