This is why Baltimore will continue to have issues. Developers don't want to build in a city that refuses to address the dysfunction and pathology that embodies Baltimore. Every time Hogan tries to assist the city he is met with lots of resistance. Do folks in Baltimore want to decrease crime or not? It looks like folks will rather pacify criminals in Baltimore instead of severely punishing them. What developer in his right mind would take a chance on Baltimore? |
A lot of development going on in Baltimore right now.... |
Thin the herd, and when there's no one left to kill, step in with aid |
The by all means import them to MoCo. When Maryland opened a state prison in rural Western Maryland, Baltimore kids moved to the area to be near their imprisoned parents. They have ruined the local schools, increased crime, and ruined many public housing structures. |
History of business and jobs in Baltimore which is down 100's of thousands in population. Like Phila it is a location that thrived on manufacturing so people moved there. Deep water port. http://www.baltimoremagazine.net/old-site/features/2007/03/100-years-baltimore-becomes-a-company-town What it needs is moving remaining people out of blocks with high vacancies - tear downs. Jobs. 1 hour from DC and we have blabbering politicians from across the country whining and doing nothing. Democrats and Republicans. Maybe they both should have had their retreats and Grand Tours in Baltimore. Joe Biden-a D from DE-would have cruised past or through Baltimore on his route from DC to DE. He's speaking at the D Retreat to be held in Cambridge MD [segregated until Civil Rights movement]which is on the peninsula side of the Eastern Shore. My party is supposed to care-should have had the darn thing is West Baltimore. Honestly they can find Central Americans galore and Mexicans but not AA's in Baltimore. Did anyone invite AA's working on Baltimore problems to the State of the Union? |
How about just encourage redevelopment in Baltimore? As for western Md, are you talking about Cresaptown? MoCo is a fair bit bigger than Cresaptown, or all of Allegheny County. Plus person for person, the families of people imprisoned at a "hyper max" prison just might be more troubled than the average low income household in Baltimore. |
The majority of people didn't do anything. So according to your logic, fuck em all! |
"As long as my children are taken care of I could care less about "those" people..." this mentality is why the country is the way it is today. People are concerned about their immediate household and have zero compassion for others. The problem with this thinking it never ends well for anyone. As those neglected inner city kids turn to crime, drugs, and other bad things and we still end up paying for it through more prisons and welfare or having those folks come out to the suburbs or wealthy neighborhoods and committing crime there. We could have avoided those things by making proper investments in education (not just throwing money at the problems either), job training, and ultimately more jobs so they wouldn't have to turn to stealing and drug dealing. It's not difficult. It is funny how you don't see a Baltimore or Detroit in Canada. Get it together America! |
