Representative democracies, i.e. republics, can choose elected officials via popular vote. There is nothing about being a republic that requires an institution like the EC to exist. And the fact that in the last 20 years the previously unprecedented occurrence of a President winning EC while losing popular vote happened twice is an indication that something is very broken with our process. I promise you the Founders were not thinking that 70 votes in PA, WI, and MI should outweigh 3 million in NY and CA. |
The straw man argument about "popular-vote" democracy vs representative democracy ignores he is duly elected under our form of democratic system. If you don't like it, change it in a legal way. Calling him to be impeached 4 months into the office shows the other side's contempt to democracy. |
agree And let's wipe Hollywood off the political arena. I don't need Katy Perry or Chuck Norris giving me "voting tips." |
as is the Pledge of Allegiance

It is time to go back to the original pledge - pre Red scare |
I don't get this. They are just as entitled to their opinion as you are. Are you proposing to restrict their First Amendment rights? Also, mature and intelligent people know not to rely on "Hollywood" for their opinions. |
Lots of people of every age from 18 on up don't have enough knowledge to make an EDUCATED decision, regardless of Meryl Streep. Or Scott Baio or that guy who used to be married to Melanie Griffith. Do you want to change the Constitution to require people to pass an information test in order to be permitted to vote? |
California? Which Federalist Paper is this discussed in? I guess those Founding Fathers truly were visionary. |
Well, if he's going to be impeached (I doubt that), it would be in a legal way, as duly elected president who didn't do his job right. All 4 month his been terrible in his job. |
LOL! No we aren't. We are a corporatist plutocracy. The only way anyone has a voice in our government is to drop a check for 5-6 figures in someone's campaign coffer. |
And if it is shown that Trump or members of his campaign colluded with a foreign power to have them interfere with our election to throw it to Trump, what does that show? Seems like a contempt for democracy to me. Also, you know, treason. |
Comey started requesting FISA warrant in May of 2016. 12 months later, still not a single piece of evidence. And that was for Carter Page, a nobody who was not even in the campaign. Harvard law professor Dershowitz said even if he colluded with Russian, there would still be no crime. |
Sorry you lack the ability to filter. Do you need someone that change the channel for you when the Kardashians come on? |
Is it Spring in Minsk yet? |
