Why does the polish start so far above the cuticle? that looks very odd. |
| ^just looks like a gel nail polish that is a little grown out. |

I feel like this is very west coast vs east coast.
Then again there are plenty of little townie areas in the NE with women who line up for acrylic nails. |
Gel polish. At the 2 week mark and need to go back. That is why I worry that they are too long. |
The shape is a little off-putting, too. Way too rounded at the tip. |

It seems like the impracticality and high maintenance nature of these nails is part of their appeal. They signal that the woman (or her man) has enough money to afford them and she can avoid doing work with her hands enough to maintain them.
Other beauty trends are popular for similar reasons--the Gwyneth Paltrow expensive straight blond hair, the "I spend all my time doing Pilates" arms, in an earlier era the corseted waist that would make you pass out if you exerted yourself. |
| They look low class. |
| I wish I had the time and money for nails. Go on with your bad selves, ladies. |
I used to always do a natural, rounded square shape and my nail guy filed them into this round shape a few weeks ago. They are so much more functional this way. With the other shape I couldn't do any of the things that I used to do with my natural nails. Couldn't even peel stickers off a piece of paper, or open bottles of soda. I agree, I think that the high maintenance look is what makes it attractive to men. I used to think fake nails were tacky and low class, but I keep doing them now because of all the compliments I've gotten. |
And you have to know that the correct word to convey what you're trying to here would be IMPLIES. Learn it to avoid embarrassing yourself when speaking. |
