Actually, you can. And people do. It's the culture of people bending rules at the top that trickles down and poisons the DCPS system, which in turn, helps fuel the charters. Just one of the many ways that DCPS shoots itself in the foot. |
The fact that even the OSSE Superintendents seem to think the only good schools in all of DCPS are in AU Park is about 99% of the problem, to be honest. No, you can't buy in AU Park on a DC Director's salary. You also shouldn't have to move to AU Park to put your child in a decent school. |

This, this. Where is the outcry? |
No one who this affects wants to get too outraged because they hope they too will score a golden ticket. In fact, it's not even principal discretion anymore. They changed the policy to guarantee that you can stay all the way through 12th. |
this thread ... if this investigation had upended actual "corruption," violation of law, or actual ABUSE of discretion the one and only "CORRUPT" Kaya would have been charged with something...buuut she was not. In the words of our current administration "The real story here is why are there so many illegal leaks coming out of Washington?" |
I really hope you're not an educator given your terrible grammar and poor vocabulary. That said, the entire bowser administration is corrupt. It does not surprise me that they are sitting on their hands. |
| I am sorry troll you are so smart that in your quickness to criticize others you missed an obvious direct quote of the President... smh |
I did not miss it. But your grammar and vocabulary in your second post is bad too. Furthermore, it makes no sense to quote the president here. The issue is local corruption. I am a staunch democrat, but we need to root out corruption everywhere. She was corrupt plain and simple. |
| My sentiments is that she had the discretionary right to do so and used it 7 times. To say yes 7 times compared to how many requests? Where are the crybabies who asked and didn't get preferential treatment? Ain't no big thing at all...I remember back in the day a student could initiate their own transfer with just a phone call downtown (12th Street). |
So you're okay with a little corruption. I get it. I just judge you for your lack of morality. |
Agree, but you couldn't blame her for that. She moved from another city. |
| Please. The Chancellor makes more than enough to buy in AU Park. Married with working spouse, she'd be your landlord. Who were the chosen 7??? We all deserve to know. |
No, you really don't deserve to know. |
Why? They didn't do anything wrong. They asked, she decided. Those are the rules. The IG criticized Henderson, not the parents. Sheez. Do you really want to drag children into this? Again, these are DC residents. They did not commit residency fraud. They didn't do anything that any other DC resident couldn't have done. They asked, she decided. This isn't like the cops from MD who knowingly put a bunch of kids in DC schools without out-of-state tuition. Or that crazy former principal who let her MD grandson go to DC schools for free. These were cases of flat-out fraud. And yes, the adults deserved to be outed because charges were brought against them. Save your outrage for the things that really matter. |
