How often do you make the effort to see grandparents? Do you travel long distances?

Similar situation. Have an almost three-year-old and a young baby, and we live in Europe (grandparents are in DC and NC). We've never lived close to them. Visiting the DC set is easy, as they have space and a guest suite (including its own TV and sitting area). NC set I dread seeing - their house is cluttered to high heaven, they have several dogs, and there's no guest room.
My parents visit us once a year. DH's parents - who are so unequipped for visitors, and do not visit us - give him a hard time for not visiting more often. Kind of annoying. This summer our vacation will be used for visiting our families. It would be great to be closer, but DH and I could not afford to be in DC and are disinclined to live in NC. We are looking to live in Philly when we return. |
