Does FCPS have a dress code for teachers now?

Isn’t that a power play for weak principals? It’s 2019. Just stop with dress coding teachers when so many of the students are in scandalous clothes. Who cares what teachers wear? It’s a crappy job.

I think the idea of professional clothing is outdated. Wear what is comfortable. I'd rather see DS' first grade teacher in jeggings and a t-shirt and getting on the floor with them etc vs having to work around a dress or structured pants.

Yes, taking pride in your appearance is so outdated.

Now in Loudoun County I noticed that the teachers don't wear jeans doing the week...(only on Friday of course)... Why doesn't FCPS have a dress code but LCPS does?
Teachers should wear a nice dress or a tie and dress pants every day. How many teachers are left that still take pride in their appearance when they go to work? Show the kids that it's an important job to be taken seriously. A start would be to dress the part. in fcps??

Teachers should... (fill in the DCUM fantasy here).

You are the kind of parent that we teachers make fun of in the workroom!!

(And you can't do anything about it! hee hee!)

I call troll. Are you in the schools every day looking at the Loudon and FCPS teachers? This post must be a joke.

+1 to all of this. I think it is a troll trying to stir up trouble. Why does a LCPS care what FCPS does anyway?

Exactly. Plus we don't pay them well so what are we expecting. For our children, we want teachers who are worried about good learning in their classrooms, not being fussy because they are wearing a dress that needs to be dry-cleaned and little Laslo is being messy with his juice box.

FCPS teacher regulation: “Employees shall dress and conduct themselves in a professional manner.”

I teach in a low income/high needs school, so my principal makes a point that teachers may be the only people the students see who dress up for work. We are allowed to wear jeans on fridays along with a school shirt.

My dentist wears jeans every day unless he’s performing surgery. Somehow I recognize he is a professional.

To wear jeans in LCPS the teachers must pay a fee that goes into the student activities fund. FYI.

I’m in the tech field in a c-suite position. I’ve met with some of the biggest players in the field and guess what? Rarely is anyone dressed in anything fancier than jeans and a button-down.

It’s crazy we teach kids all their lives that clothes don’t matter or make them better or worse than another student. Then we flip the rules and expect the opposite in adults. Dumb.

Was there a particular reason this thread was brought back up after a 2.5 year hiatus? Just curious.

I teach in FCPS. I dress nice (with heels) everyday except Friday. Fridays I wear jeans and a school T-shirt.

From the punctuation and grammar, she appears to be the lake braddock mom.

So she is obviously a troll who is branching out beyond trolling about LB.

To be fair, when OP started the thread, it was 2017.

Welcome to teaching. Report back in June as to whether you will continue into a second year.
