Well, the point of a registry is that you buy what they have picked out. Who on earth would pick something different? It doesn't get noted on the registry as a substitute. You have to select the items there, from that store for the system to work...

My MIL! And of course we ended up with duplicate items because people actually bought the stuff from the registry!

My MIL gave the bread machine we received to my mom to return and packed up their old one for us instead. Uh, no.
