Having too many girlfriends is what gets male politicians in trouble. For female politicians, having their office and staff seem like a 'girl's club' also turns off the general public. HRC had many problems but I think a core perception problem of hers was also the fact that she was seen as a huge supporter of strong, independent women to the detriment of 'strong' men. Obama had Rahm. She had Huma. She lost.

Michelle was childhood friends with the children of Jesse Jackson. She was privileged for her area.

Obama's body language and slight frame say gay to me. There's a pic on the net of him flinching and grabbing Michelle while observing a judo demo on the WH lawn. It looks so effeminate. My brother is a gay man and he has the same mannerisms. I love him dearly and he's a freakin' laugh riot to be around so spare me the bigot/ homophobe comments.

I don't think he's an aloof loner -- I think he's very friendly and personable -- just look at how people flock to him. But I do agree that both Michelle and Hillary were strivers determined to hitch their wagon to a rising star and it worked out for both of them.

What does this even mean? Are you suggesting that Michelle had a million suitors and picked Barack because he was a rising star? She went for the guy who paid attention to her and who was nice. Isn't that what most women do?

Michelle is lucky to a certain extent. But by the looks of it, she is a darn good wife. She could have been happy with a regular HLS lawyer who loved her the way Barack does. Fortunately for her, she gets the love, and money and fame.

She couldn't wait for his term to end. He joked that the secret service once caught someone climbing over the WH fence and that he was glad they caught Michelle before she got away. They are devoted to their daughters and hopefully the eight years hasn't been a huge strain on their relationship. I'm not an Obama fan by any stretch of the imagination, but his family orientation is admirable.
