I guess I'm surprised by all of the negative comments. It was violent (but I'm not sure it was any more violent than other episodes) and I think they might have pushed me over the edge if Carl lost his arm. That took me to a place I didn't want to imagine. But it made me think, I was thinking what would I do? Could I do it? Would I shut down? No one was thinking this?
Negan broke Rick. It was some of the best acting I've seen. It was intense. |
I'm more pissed at the way he died. I know the writers stayed someone true to the comics in Glenn's death, but it would have been nice if he went down in a blaze of glory. Not on his knees. He was too strong of a character to end up killed on his knees, with no fight. |
Agreed. The ax scene was where I felt Rick really was broken. He had a clear shot at Negan with his back turned to take his ass out. Instead he handed it back to him. The scene w/ his son IMO was more for the group, then for Rick. He was already broken by then. |
Am I the only one who thought Jeffrey Dean Morgan was chewing the scenery a bit? |
I think one of the most fascinating things about the show is how it began with horror and fear of the walkers, while the human story was how characters react when all rules have been removed, they have lost everything, and they have little or no hope of living much longer. Our group has usually reacted by coming together by caring about one another, developing survival skills, and avoiding letting fear or lust or greed or grief take over. They encountered other groups who came together in different and twisted ways, and have had to defeat them (or in the case of Alexandria, assimilate them). It has mostly been a story of our group retaining their humanity, and humanity's better nature conquering its more base nature. Now, the walkers are more of a deadly nuisance than something to be feared, except when their numbers are overwhelming. Rick went from defense to offense, against a larger and more powerful group. And he lost. This episode showed us that there is another aspect of humanity that is more to be feared even than hordes of walkers. Its emotional impact was brutal. How will our group fit itself into this new order? Rick started out as a soldier of sorts, a policeman. He became a leader but now will be asked to be a soldier again. A simple revolt doesn't seem possible. Setting aside that Neegin has Daryl, tThe season finale showed that Neegin has intelligence and capacity to organize that goes way beyond anything our group does. How big and how extended his network is remains to be seen. |
| Can someone remind me where carol is? I can't remember where she left off 10 months ago. Thanks. |
I think the point is that Negan is dramatic. I think Morgan is terrific. |
Think I'm done with the show after hearing some of this from DH (who also hasn't seen it yet). I don't mind human on zombie violence, but No desire to watch this. |
OK, I am a fan and I liked the show on Sunday as it did take a big turn. I've never seen Rick so beaten Question regarding what is bolded . I don't recall the pictures you are referencing. Which survivor compound? I did notice the person taking the Polaroid of the dead bodies at the end I pointed that out to my husband |
http://www.wetpaint.com/walking-dead-season-6-glenn-death-negan-1477543/ It also helps to know that Glenn dies in a similar fashion in the comic. Actually, its a bit more graphic in the comic, if you could believe it. |
Hes alive but injured and recovering. They showed her for a split moment towards the end of the most recent episode. |

I'm a ginger, so technically I don't have a soul, lol.

| Agreed that as bad as the beating deaths were, the worst moment for me was the Carl arm scene. |
When Rick and his group got into one of Negan's compounds and killed his men. Before Glenn killed his first human, a guy who was asleep, he saw Polaroids of the heads Negan bashed in hanging on the wall next to the guy. While we all want to believe that Negan is terrible for what he did, you also have to remember that night when Rick and his group killed people they knew very little about. They are really no better. |
