Why is there a half day for MCPS today?

Read the calendar in August and make arrangements. Our PTA has it automated so there's a direct link to Google Calendars. Not hard.

Accept that you live in a very diverse county and enjoy the positives that diversity brings to your life.

Teachers, you are making such an important contribution. Thank you!

Totally agree.

Who gets 6 weeks of PTO??? I think we can all agree that teaching is a demanding job... but the rest of the professional working world is tired of the teacher pity party. We all have it tough... we all work hours we don't get paid for, in jobs without union representation or much job security or pensions or anything else. Sheesh.

Nobody. Not even teachers.

The key word you used there is "Professional." Too many don't see teaching as a profession. They see it as free babysitting or something, and/or try to tell the professional (the teacher) how to do their job.

Just stop. You are making it so much worse.

As a teacher, I'm okay with all this jealousy. I'm sorry for you guys that you picked jobs you hate. You should consider a career change.

What other job in the world faces such scrutiny? This thread is ugly. Teachers love and nurture our children and we should be grateful.
