No. I taught at USC. It is still very much University of spoiled children. Very blonde, attractive, nicer cars than faculty and big into the Greek scene. It is not a Highly Selective student like Ga Tech and UVA. It's much more difficult to get into the latter two, which are HIghly Selective as opposed to merely Selective. Also UVA was just named top public by Business Insider for best Public in the nation, so now outstrips UCLA Berkely and Michigan. No way would I send my kid to USC (the one in CA).

While UVA is a good school, all things being equal financially, I would never choose UVA over Berkeley regardless of what Business Insider says. Berkeley's academic reputation is well-known worldwide.

I think it's important to see what criteria is used to formulate a list, so here's the Business Insider link. U of Delaware was also in the top 14.

UVA's acceptance rate is close to 40% not very selective.

Uva is not in the same league as Berkeley, Michigan.

At 20 everyone is attractive, OP.

And excuse me, but at that age I found intelligence to be the most attractive attribute!

I don't think anyone is cross-shopping Berkeley and U-Va. A Virginia resident who can get into and afford Berkeley's out-of-state tuition would likely get into G'Town, Hopkins, Duke, an Ivy, or Northwestern.

It depends on the kid. I'm sure there are plenty of kids from Virginia who would chose Berkeley in a heartbeat over both UVA & most of the schools you listed.

And --apropos to nothing really -- Berkeley is probably as hard or harder to get into for non CA residents than all of the schools you mentioned except for the some of the ivys . It's definitely harder to get into Berkeley right now from out of state than it is to get into Hopkins or Georgetown.

The real question is how attractive are the Berkeley students?

False. Berkeley was literally just caught lowering the bar for out-of-state students to collect out-of-state tuition $.

But you would be wrong Business Insider changed its evaluation system to remove "glamour" factors and to search instead for the University's overal "efficacy". UVA is now no. 1 And I would trust Business Insider over any mom on this website. http://www.cavalierdaily.com/article/2016/09/uva-ranked-best-public-college-business-insider

And then there are 4 or five more reputable rankings that rank Berkeley as top ten in the world and uva between 80 to 150.

SMU. Probably the most attractive student body you'll find. And fairly intelligent.
