Anyone else notice that the new Bell & Evans chicken sold at Whole Foods Tenleytown smells rancid

I had a discussion about it with an emplyee in the meat section, and he swore to me it is the same chicken as always was in the WF packaging, just different packaging. So I think the poster above is right about the smell coming from the packaging (rather than something off with the chicken). I hate the new packaging.

Btw, I wish I could buy Wegmans organic chicken, but those of us shopping in Tenleytown and Bethesda do not have a Wegmans nearby!

There is a Wegmans in City Ridge in Tenleytown.

Also, please let WF know that they need to sell crushed tomatoes without basil. Who cooks sauce with pre-seasoned crushed tomatoes, yuck! And they have no parm cheese shakers (eg Kraft). A must have for little italian ones.

Also, they need Morningstar Farms veggie sausages, nuggets, and bacon.

You get snobby about crushed tomatoes with tomatoes but like pre-grated Parmesan? That is baffling. And I seem to remember there's a reason they don't sell Morningstar, something about the ingredients.

I've had three terrible packages of chicken and my produce from there has sucked lately. WTH is happening there?

I'm so disappointed with the Tenleytown WF chicken too, I have had to request a refund several times. I've also had issues with chicken from Trader Joes. Not sure what to do or where to buy.

I have bought whole chickens at the Dupont market. Can't remember if they have the boneless/skinless breasts though.

We like chicken but after getting a bad pack the smell puts you off for a while.

Morningstar Farms is GMO so they will not sell that.

All those complaining in this thread could more productively do so by tweeting at WF or contacting their customer service department.

Chicken is an inherently dirty bird, why are you not cleaning your meat?? It's 2024, there are lots of tutorials on YouTube.

Threw so much grizzle and gel from endoscopy chicken cutlets and breasts that I am left with hardly any chicken to cook. Been using bell and evans for years but no more. Their chicken isn’t any better than the other brands and they have outpeiced themselves as far as I’m concerned. 13.99 for cutlets and breasts and 17.99 for organic breasts. No mire bell and evans for me it’s a ripoff. I’m not eating steak I’m earring chickens

Not endoscopy that was correct type I meant end of cutlet. Please excuse type errors

I purchased Bell and Evans chicken at Stop n Shop for the first time. I was told it's better than Perdue but it's not. The chicken had a weird taste, tough, and stringy and no, it wasn't overcooked. Perdue chicken remains my favorite for consistent flavor and tenderness. I wasted $15 on a vacuumed package, split, whole chicken that is sitting outside in the garbage.

Cooking the chicken cleans it. It’s not like it has dirt on it since they plucked it.
Washing just spreads salmonella all around

Perdue has terrible quality chicken. Clearly you are just accustomed to how Perdue tastes and not how real chicken is supposed to taste.
