After two years in our home we finally changed the floor color and I absolutely love them! I hate yellow oak! Ours are light colored with touches of brown and grey. Some yellow still shows through, but it's tolorable. Not were changing the trim, that's a pain to do!

I agree with all of this, except: don't use Gunstock!!! It is VERY orange; very faux-cherry and ugly. We're spending a fortune restaining the floors in our new house to get rid of this hideous orange color.

But when stripped back and lightly finished, its possible to get a very nice, pale look on your floors, stripping off the old varnish is key for ridding you of medium honey tones. You can go paler, which is alway really elegant.
