DMV drives me crazy! DMV = Delaware Maryland Virginia (Tri-State Area). It also stands for Dept Motor Vehicles. one thing it has never stood for is DC MARYLAND VIRGINIA !

Now DC Proper I have to disagree with. I am a native Washingtonian and I use DC proper when trying to help someone understand the difference between DC and DC Metro.
