Feedback on LAMB--Admitted Need Advice

So in short, visit, make sure you buy into the philosophy and people, then make the decision. I was ridiculously fortunate to have two very good options, plus a private in my back pocket. Also, you can always get into private later. May as well take LAMB, give it a year or so, then reevaluate.

Would love to know which school? Another Spanish?

Yes, that was an actual Facebook post.

LAMB is the new Janney.

PP isn't talking about fundraising, but comparing it to private.

Yep. Said parents are now not so thrilled with LAMB for their precious snowflake either and might send her private after all. I shouldn't disparage LAMB parents because of this though. It was just one set of LAMB parents bragging. Apparently they are just as intolerable in school communications too.

Is this a parent of someone just admitted or of someone that has been attending? If it is someone just admitted, then I wouldn't exactly use that as an example of "LAMB parents bragging."

ITS. We really loved the teachers, philosophy, and families. Montessori wasn't doing it for us, and the social development curriculum at ITS was more appealing to us than immersion. It's such an individual choice, and I definitely had friends who though we were crazy. How long do you have to accept the spot? Maybe you'll also lottery into another good option?

a mom at our charter (not ITS) told me she got into lamb but liked our school better. She said this to about 4 moms and there was complete silence in response. We all love our school but would have jumped at Lamb.

she was an very recent DC transplant and apparently didn't know the lore - those who get into lamb go to lamb. ha ha.

LOL! Yeah, I got a few weird looks when we rejected LAMB. But Montessori isn't for everyone, and we're one of those outliers.

They've been there for more than two years.

I wonder how many of the parents who are gung-ho about LAMB for PK3 don't realize what they're getting into with Montessori.

Hasn't been the case in my experience with lamb parents.

Call them after spring break and ask (a week from Monday). Usually people are told which campus when they are notified of their admittance.

The MO campus only has PK-3. All 4th-5th graders are at the other campus.

I don't think there are any shuttles but there are certainly parents who carpool.

Also at some point in the future - but no one knows exactly when - LAMB has space on the former Walter Reed campus and has said they will open some classrooms there. What grades, how many, when it will begin to be renovated - all open questions. Certainly possible by the time a fall 2016 PK3 is ready for upper grades, but not necessarily something one should count on shaking out in the way you might hope.

The Walter Reed space is intended to be ready for Fall 17 just like DCI.
