I bought a big thing of salt at Trader Joe's

Growing up I never knew butter could sit out.

I had a butter bell for a while, but so stick of butter would ever last a whole month on the counter at our house, so we just use a covered dish.

+1. I think OP is a troll, though. She had me going until this:

"I am going to look for a salt shaker that kind of grinds it as it disperses it. Like a pepper mill but for salt. I don't know if such a thing exists, but I'll look around."

If you have seen and used a pepper mill, you have obviously also seen and used a salt shaker. Fun thread though. Thanks OP.

My fancy pants brother and his wife have a pepper mill. I don't think they keep salt or pepper on their table.

I just keep my butter dish on the counter. We go through butter fast enough that it doesn't go bad.

OP here: I am pleased to be able to announce that yesterday I bought a salt mill at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It came with salt in it. The guy showed me how to use it, and there were six options, ranging from $40 to $10. I bought the cheapest one.

Thank you all for your assistance with this. It is reassuring to know there is somewhere I can get these questions answered. If you come over and see a salt mill and figure out who I am, just pretend you didn't ridicule me on here and we can stay friends. I'll feed you things with salt in them. You can laugh quietly to yourself.

I like you, OP.
