Ok,let's get to the bottom of this. When did the kid post on his FB account? And to the poster who's kid was accepted, when were the EA decisions posted? Do the dates jive? Next, on May 1, when all deposits are due, has the kid enrolled at UVA ?

You are obsessed. Too creepy.

Why do you think this is a troll?

Because OP has a quick retort for every possible explanation.

This is the most important thing in your life right now?

Your interest in this is frankly creepy.

It's not creepy to see how unusual it is for someone with no hooks and average SAT and average GPA to be accepted to UVA Early.

But what does this have to do with you to make you so obsessed? It has nothing to do with you.

I am not obsessed, just curious as to UVA early acceptance chances.

All you need to know about UVA EA chances is right there on your school's Naviance. GC can also provide info.

It's pointless to speculate. OP cannot possibly know what was actually in the applicant's application package. They can't even know for sure the SAT scores and GPA, or what else the student has going on. Maybe they think they do, but most likely there are things they don't know about the child or his or her family. I used to teach classes at UVa, and I guarantee you that most of the students there are totally mediocre, no matter what they may think of themselves. You don't have to be a genius to go there. I went there, and I was no genius either.

Uh, it's jibe. Not jive.

It's much harder to get in now, though.

I went to grad school at UVA and came from a 3rd tier public institution. I tutored and taught labs so I had a lot of interactions with students. If you think UVA students are "totally mediocre" you've got a very warped idea of what the average college student is like. While I agree that most aren't geniuses, they're generally smart and studious. And some absolutely are exceptional. A student with the stats given above would be a complete anomaly for a non-minority/non-athlete.

I think the admission departments randomly accept every 1000th applicant just to screw with people like OP.
