Politically unpalatable and impossible. Wilson, Eastern, Cardozo, CHEC, Dunbar 11th will all outrank Deal, because HS will outrank MS. Furthermore, they're upfront about "spreading the wealth." High score in Ward 8 will vault over middle-high score for Ward 3. |
How do you know that DCPS isn't dividing the tickets evenly (200 for 8th graders and 200 for 11th graders)? You don't know what you're talking about lady. |
By "walk" are you one of the parents bitching on the Bruce Monroe thread why even though you CAN walk, you drive anyway because it's cold, or rainy, or you go straight to work or Blah.. Yeah...we know you aren't walking. |

Nicaragua? What was the justification for that? My SIL and some others I know well are from there or have lived there. One said, "hell no! Why do you think so many are trying to get out?" Another "what will they learn from there these days? Who will provide security?"
Does anyone know the vendor or specific program? Would you send your child? |

This, it is funny watching poor people fighting over trinkets. |
Who cares a lot? There's a good reason people leave JKLM for LAMB and YY. Kaya is obviously worried. No-one at Central cares about keeping WOTP students in the system. They're a captive audience. This is about trying to keep or tempt Capital Hill, Shaw, Bloomingdale, and Brookland into DCPS. |
Bruce Monroe is not a WotP neighborhood school and does not feed to Deal. Also, PP said only that her youngest kid walks to ES, implying that the child is old enough to do so unaccompanied. Mom is free to commute as she pleases without worrying about transporting her kid to school. Yay neighborhood schools! |
I am a non-Hispanic who vacationed with my (non-Hispanic) family in Nicaragua a few years ago. Our children were both under the age of 7 at the time. It was a wonderful, safe place to visit, and they enjoyed practicing their Spanish with native speakers. You really should broaden your horizons and get out more. |
A few people leave EJKLMORS for immersion charters. However, there's really no other reason to leave those schools for a charter. |

You should only respond to things you actually have read dear, the BM thread is not just about BM - but neighborhood schools generally. But, as typical of type before your research you just are responding in a vacuum. |
Just curious, does anyone have an answer for this question? |
| OP here, I was actually asking about security. Who will be providing security while they are abroad? |

Have you ever been abroad? Then you'll know that civilians traveling throughout the world aren't "provided with security" (as little as the any of the masses of tourists descending on Washington annually have security details). Of course, any US citizen in any other country with which the US has diplomatic relations can turn to the nearest US embassy or consulate with any problems. Isn't this a no-brainer? |
