Fiorina and the others are bringing the mocking upon themselves, by running around pandering to the sorts of people who believe the moon landings and Obama's birth certificate were faked, by spouting ridiculous talk radio propaganda and made-up information, and by ignoring facts and reality.

The thinking, knowlegeable people out there know to not take Fiorina or Trump seriously. Others, however, are not so knowlegeable, and are less able to do critical thinking and independent research, have been exposed to the FOX News style propaganda for far too long, to the point of having misinformation drilled right into their DNA and to where they think they "know" things down to their bones, and as such actually think their rhetoric has some air of legitimacy and credibility and think they can relate to these charlatans because they are speaking the language they are accustomed to hearing.
