Thanks a lot Mr/ Ms Smug! If only my neighborhood school taught more than 15% of its students to read at the level of proficient!

If you and a bunch of other people in your neighborhood sent your kids there, the proficiency rate might go up.

Sir Smugness- are you going to pay for an organizer to convince all of my neighbors to switch schools?

Why did the people buy in the neighborhood in the first place? Oh I forgot for-profit Charters.

I bought where I could afford. Where do you live/ send your kids to school? How much does your family make?

These neighbors school gang bangers (actually, I'm sure it's just one) are really getting irritating.

On the "why should nw schools change plans because of a mass at the Basilica?" crowd: did you notice that northhbound Mass Ave between the rcp exit and Reno will also be closed for days? This is going to complicate your commutes, too, not just those of the little people eotp trying to mooch a spot in your neighborhood school...

It's not just one, it's the capital hill cluster gang and the ward 3 crew.

Good thing their turfs are so far away and they leave their areas. Watching them battle would be epic.

Then stay home from school that day. But don't expect all of dcps to close.

+1. Commutes will be complicated but we all have tons of time to make a plan and figure out an alternative means of transportation to get to where we need to be. If you can't / don't want to figure something out then keep your kids home.

The only DCPS schools with reading proficiency at or below 15% are Ballou, Harris, Hendley, and Moten. If you live in-bounds for any of these, there are absolutely closer and higher-performing charters than Brookland.

Especially since the Cap Hill schools are mediocre at best. Even the schools like Brent that have no FARMS have scores comparable to Shepherd that has 1/3 FARMs, yet they claim they true bangers in the game.

I recall the pressure (from the media) to telework on the day the million man march was scheduled-for several years back. I drove in to work nonetheless and traffic was a complete breeze, thanks to so many people that who stayed home I guess. I'm expecting it'll be the same for the Pope's visit -- smooth commuting!

If we are all so clever to live in DC with our big, important jobs, we should be able to get kids to school and ourselves to our jobs for these two or three days. Be creative. I will drop the kids off at school and go to work by bike.
