| Both 25. Married 10 months later. Married 10 years with 7 and 4 year old. |
I agree. No need to get married at 23, but meeting a great mate in college is a good bet. |
| Married at 16 (me, dw) and 19 (dh). Married more than 10 years now. |

Average age of marriage in DC is 29. I believe it is higher for those who are white-collar professionals with advanced degrees. I am a big law attorney and when I got married at 28, that was younger than virtually everyone I knew. |
I would guess the pp was talking about white-collar professionals with advanced degrees. Originally I am from the UK and over there the average age for first marriage hit mid 30s for white-collar professionals, i was the only one of my peers who got married in her late 20s but my husband is 6 years older than me. Generally in Europe across all social classes people tend to marry later than in america. |
| I was 28, he was 40 |
I think this is what people who got all up in arms about in the thread telling women to get serious in their 20s think too. Reality is the market of good candidates starts to shrink dramatically post 30 (at least for women) Woman here. Met DH at 24, he was 28, started dating at 26/30 but didn't date anyone in the interim. Married at 28/32; pregnant now with first at 30/34 |
Not that it matters but mis-typed. Met at 22 and started dating at 24, still didn't date anyone in the interim |
