Moving out of state, what amazing expensive restaurant in DC should we try before we leave?

Different tastes are OK. There's nothing wrong with chocolate and vanilla.

Nothing wrong, but then ask for that.

I agree. Ask where the best place to get a steak is. A steakhouse is not an "amazing, expensive restaurant." And if you really want a great steak, go to a city that is known for steak. Forget DC.

Sounds like OP would be happy with McD's and saving the $490.

I hate to spoil anyone wanting to try new things but I have experience with some of the choices mentioned.

Capital Grill is a chain restaurant. It is a good one, but, not the best.

Range was a big disappointment for me. It was expensive (more than Capital Grill). The service was not good. The portions were small. I did not entirely like how my food was prepared.

I think that the prices for the Inn at Little Washington are higher than what was mentioned. I tried to take my wife there (I offered to pay the bill) but she saw the prices and said that she didn't think she could enjoy the meal at those prices. I really don't know why, I know she enjoyed some of the finest in Paris.

Even so, it interested me to hear what is on offer.
