How did your starter marriage end?

My 1st wife was about 24 years old, and I was approaching 30. She came from a family where her wealthy dad was on his 2nd marriage, and her mom was divorced three times. She was an only child and spoiled, and smoked pot daily and loved blowing things up into a screaming match. Married barely a year (no kids, just a couple of dogs), and she cheated with a coworker - kicked her out, signed a separation agreement where she walked away with $50K she didn't deserve (including the value of the wedding ring).

Three years later, I sold the house we lived in for almost twice what I paid for it, married a successful surgeon, and now live in Northern VA in a $1.5+ million dollar home, two great healthy kids, and have never looked back. If you're young and in a bad marriage without kids, sometimes it pays to just get the fuck out and don't try to make it work. Met my current wife less than 6 months after the separation was final.
