| I would not worry about glen. not yet. most of the comic has diverged greatly from the show, esp in these later seasons. |
| I could live without Glen. |
SPOILERS>>>>>
Glenn carrying the baseball bat was definitely and Easter Egg. But I'm not sure they'll follow the comics specifically in that case. I'm sure that someone will meet Lucille but they've swapped characters from the comics to the show (i.e. Carol on tv = Andrea in comics). I will be surprised if Neegan shows up this season at all. They've milked the storylines to get extra episodes, like the Governor attacking the prison twice. My guess is that Alexandria is going to be overrun by zombies and/or Carl has the firearm mishap. CORAL!!!!!! |
|
HEY! No spoilers! Some of us don't read the comics. If you are going to state something that happens in the comics you need to warn us with a spoiler alert!!! |
I agree. However, while the show generally follows the comics, the fates of the specific characters doesn't necessarily follow. For example, in the comics, Lori and baby Judith are shot and killed when the Governor attacked the prison. They obviously didn't follow that line. Also, Tyrese was like Daryl in the comics and Daryl is an entirely new character. So while Alexandria was in the comics and we can (probably) have a general idea where the plot will go- there's no guarantee that specific characters will suffer the same fate as the comics. |
| Actually, and please correct me if I am wrong, in the comics Carol dies and Maggie and Glen raise Sophia as their child. Someone told me that is what happens in the comics. |
Carol on tv is like Andrea in the comics. Yes, Sophia is adopted by Glenn and Maggie. There is no Daryl in the comics. Tyrese was a major character in the comics, Rick's right-hand man, and nowhere near the pussy he was on tv. So basically Daryl replaced Tyrese. Dale was a major character, had a relationship with Andrea, was bitten by a zombie on the shoulder and had his leg eaten by a group called the Hunters. So Bob was a character created for the show who vaguely followed the fate of Dale (I'm tainted meat!) There was no Terminus in the comics but The Hunters were a group of roaming cannibals. Those are just a few examples. In short, you can't look at what happens to specific characters in the comics and equate that to their fate on the show. But the general plot and locations of the comics have been followed on the show. |
Thank you! That's very interesting. Do you think they are doing it this way so that people who are fans of the comic have something new to experience with the show, or that this is just what happens when you do an adaptation? Or a little of both? I'm still bummed about Tyrese. Did he die in the comic? |
Tyrese is killed by the Governor right before the attack on the prison and Michonne kills his zombified decapitated head. Sound familiar?
I think they're doing the tv show this way so that people won't know exactly what's going to happen. So I'll be happy to throw a SPOILER about Glenn in the comics, if you'd like, since it probably won't happen exactly that way on the show... http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Comic_Series_Characters |

For people who read the comics: are they worth reading? I am not a fan of comic books in general, but I love the show and I am always interested in how the plot of the show differs/follows the books.
Anyone who reads the comics and enjoys them even if they aren't a comic book reader? And how many books are in the series so far? |
To be honest, don't bother with the comics, especially if you're not a fan of comics in general. I'd recommend World War Z and the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks. Both are highly entertaining and very easy reading. If you have a teen interested in zombies, they're both much better than the comics. The comics are extremely graphic and profane. Those two books by Max Brooks are not. |

Wow, Carole was such a badass tonight when she was scating that kid in the larder scene! And that kiss between Rick & the hair dresser - he just went for it, no regrets!
Loved tonight's episode. |
| I felt sooooo uncomfortable watching that scene with Carole! I am really looking forward to these last few episodes! |
I couldn't stop laughing during that scene. It was freaky yet kind of funny. Once again showed how much her character has evolved over the series and how she will do anything to protect her group and survive. |
