No, I don't work for NASA but I definitely appreciate knowing how much they do.

+1. Thanks to the individual who posted about NASA's contributions...learned something new today.

I'm an attorney in private practice, and from what I can tell, the NLRB is a great agency. The quality of their attorneys and investigators is high (generally - there are exceptions), and it seems like a cool place to work if you are at all interested in labor law/relations. I've been tempted to jump ship and go there.

Though not an official agency, the federal reserve is a great place to work.

The quality of the attorneys and agents is high and there is a great sense of dedication and mission. Of course, some offices are more dysfunctional than others. The main downside is that it's a political target and gets a lot of hostility.

Concur. hilarious! I am from a different and have worked closely with OEM. The above statement is so true.

Worked with its Deputy Director? She is horrendous!

Last summer OEM was supposed to have an audit and they collected data from staff. It's been almost 9 months and nothing. Looks like a typical Washington cover up.

My husband is with USACE and, while there are headaches typical of federal agencies, he's done well and seems fairly happy there.

True, except for the open office floor plan.

What makes morale there so high? I was at an agency where everyone stays and stays, but it's only because they feel powerless to find anything else that would pay so well while still allowing them to do very little.

Yes I've heard of the poor management at EPA OEM.

I think the agencies that deal with social welfare issues have a lot morale issues.
I constantly hear complaints about the VA, SSA and DHHS.

Yup. And my friends who work for NASA love it. Awesome agency mission, and everyone's proud of it.

And it hasn't done anything of significance in over 35 years. But anyway...

How many robots have YOU put on Mars?

Bam!

Just as many as you have. Money could have been spent fighting poverty, relics.

I can't believe I'm hearing this old tired diatribe that certain people spewed back when we first started our space programs.

Do you mean the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve? The Banks of the Federal Reserve are different entities overseen by the Board. Except for NY. They think they run everything. It used to be awesome. It is probably still a step up from most agencies.

CIA is a great place to work.
