Is Georgetown Day's Reputation Merited?

Prep, Landon, Gonzaga-they produce well rounded kids who are tough enough to survive in the real world.

And if I ever had a kid come and sit down for a job interview with me, and he called me by my first name, because after all, he was told it was ok by Mommy and Daddy, I'd throw his ass out, as would most serious working professionals.

Now go back to coddling your little wimps

+10,000- if I wanted my son to be a varsity rusty trombone player, or my daughter to excel at scissoring, I'd send them to GDs. Smoking pot with a bunch of liberal wusses is a way of life at this place

Don't bother responding. Troll having fun pushing buttons.

NP here as well as GDS parent. Maybe I missed up thread, but here goes: GDS started using first names when the school was founded by seven black and Jewish families in the 1940s, when their kids were shut out of every independent in the District. This practice wasn't hatched by some youthful yippees huffing on a blunt in the '70s, but was a very deliberate decision made nearly three decades earlier by two groups with long histories of discrimination in schools as well as the public square. Second, GDS' "free to be me"/gay pride week is an affirmation of every family, whether gay or straight, with children at the school. There is no proselytizing for the "gay" team, simply a recognition of all the members of the community. Finally, LGBTs teens have one of the highest rates of suicide. If building an inclusive community through assemblies and marches forestalls just one kid from taking his or her life, I am all in.

Give up already. The nerds won. They control commerce, the media, finance, health care, technology...and next they are coming for your women. Oh my!

+1 on this. Like the mentored student (from one of these schools) that I encountered, who told his supervisor to "get the phone, because I'm expecting another call." They are equal to adult professionals, after all.

+1,000- this liberal bullshit mentality and up in your face gayness sucks. I'm a man, married a woman, and have kids. That's how gay kids got here, hetero parents.

Pretty sure most of the private schools and many of the publics won't be for you.

+1. PP would have hated our little episcopal elementary school with the gay teachers and he'd also hate our kids' huge, gritty public high school with more gay teachers and the large Gay-Straight Alliance club.

I think homeschooling is probably the only option.

That would be awful, because I really want my kid to work for a great guy like you.

Really, you want your kid to work as a strip club janitor?

Haters gonna hate, players gonna play, and GDSers just gonna ignore you.

Have a good family friend that is a GDS grad, incredibly intelligent and caring person.

The only thing that is odd, is his lack of maturity and his attachment to his mom and dad. This guy is a very good artist, very successful, financially and professionally but something feels so off about how he acts.

After reading this thread I can understand why.

Yep, don't let first hand reality and the truth get in the way of your liberal dreams.
So instead, just insult the other side.

Great job, now I understand why so many people voted against your liberal agenda. Adios scumbags!

You do realize that a number of Republicans have (had) kids @ GDS. You and many on here don't seem to grasp that progressive education = / = liberal politics.

But we will miss your persuasive arguments. If we all promise to sit quietly and let you rant, will you please stay?
