Women who don't wear makeup

Anonymous
My wife is in her late 40s and she wears a modest amount of makeup about once a month. I hate it. I wish she never wore it but she says that other women have commented to her about it and encouraged her to wear it for some events.

Because I have sensitive skin, I haven't tried it. But if I were you, I would look into derma-rolling. I believe it can be helpful for acne scars.

I think everyone can look better with a little make-up. And I do think you don't look polished aren't wearing some. A little frumpy.

I agree, women who over do it and look like glamour dolls are a bit much to take. Too much mascara, blush, lipstick, etc. YUCK. Let's not forget the overdose of self-tanner. GROSS. However, I think there are very few of us with flawless skin, bee-stung lips, bright eyes and curled dark lashes. Unless you are Asian or AA, those of you over 40 make up free? Really not good (I am white for the record). So stop it already and go grab your Beauty Insider points! Even though they never give good gifts!

Over 40 and make up free. I only own one lipstick that I took from a friends house when I thought it was Chapstick. My 4.5 year old uses it because she loves makeup. Go figure.

I think you look either like a hooker or you are trying to hard when you wear make up.

The difference in how most women look wit h compared to without is pretty obvious. I don't make the rules but I certainly see the effects

Really? I'm the Director of my division and do most of the hiring...I never have worn make up.

Also, I don't hire based on the color of your lipstick, but the work you do. Maybe spend less time in the bathroom putting on your makeup and more time doing the work?

do you work in STEM or medicine? Because that's the two fields I've seen where you could get away with this.

hell in tech, they are happy if you aren't barefoot and are wearing a top and bottoms.

Yup. You nailed it. I am going for the hooker look.

You ladies that can get away with no makeup are making me so depressed. I have to wear foundation. I have one of those horrid Irish complexions. Even though I don't drink, my nose is red, my skin dull, opaque white. I am ashamed every time I see myself without makeup, and also sometimes at the end of the day when my foundation is fading...

I've only started wearing foundation after my rosacea got worse, and I would happily skip it if it weren't for the redness.

+1 What foundation to you use for the rosacea? I have rosacea....

I have rosacea too! Right now I use Urban Decay cream to powder foundation (bought a couple of them because they were on sale and I don't think they make it any more) with a dusting of Bare Minerals on top. I am always open to other suggestions though for foundation. Not really a fan of the liquid stuff...

I'm in technology and yeah, I was actually barefoot yesterday. There wasn't anyone else there but if my boss had walked in he wouldn't have been scandalized that I was wearing neither makeup nor shoes. Norm definitely differ from place to place.

You don't have to have perfect skin, lips, and lashes to not wear make-up. I certainly don't. I just choose to spend my time, money, and energy on other things. What anyone thinks of my make-up free face doesn't really matter to me, and that seems to be working in my personal and professional life.

Same. I'm 41 - one of the people who wears tinted chapstick only. I probably would look better with some makeup - but I actually don't know how to use it, and don't care enough to learn, basically. I do like clothes, dress kinda slobby but in a way that (maybe you wouldn't realize) I put some time into. I just feel flummoxed when it comes to makeup.

I wear makeup, because I'm pale with blonde eyelashes so without mascara I look ridiculous. I essentially wear 'corrective' makeup -- foundation or tinted moisturizer, concealer, mascara, and darken my eyebrows.

I actually have good skin, despite it being so far, but I don't even understand how you could get away without wearing makeup as you get older and your skin tone is more uneven. I'm not saying you have to wear foundation/powder, but nobody is even using a BB cream? Nothing? How is that possible?
