Is it ok for a parent to drop their child of at school while parent is wearing slippers?

I have done drop-off line in a bathrobe, once. I was scared to death that we were going to be late, because that would have required me to park and go inside.

Others mothers told me they did this too. I thought it was the most slovenly thing I had ever heard of. Then I got pneumonia while DH was out of town. Guess who was in the car line with a coat over her nightgown. (No comments please on choice of nightwear.)

I'm definitely thinking of the movie Uncle Buck, when John Candy threatened to walk his niece to school in his robe and slippers if she didn't behave.

I wouldn't care on iota if I saw someone else dressed like that, but I also wouldn't do it myself.
