The thread for the, "buying under $600,000," crowd.

Oh, and my neighbors hit us up for $20 the day after we met them. Probably should've sold a month after that.

Check out 22042 along Holmes Run Park, and across it into Annandale. Very pretty, well-kept streets with lots of trees and flowers. Here's a pretty good one.

I would recommend pimmit hills. The schools are good and so is the location.

Another person who bought in 20910 near downtown SS. Honestly, I never thought I would love it so much. It's the best mix of urban/suburban and my neighbors are the best.

I think Annandale has some nice houses in that price range like this one:

Between the boarding houses, the drug dealer across the street, the immediate neighbors getting into screaming matches at 1am, and the people who didn't seem to like anyone further out than their first cousins ...

Yeah, stuff's changed. I guess.

And the S. Arlington hater is back! I was waiting to see how long that would take.

I am still depressed because 600K is still way out of my price range!!

Good Schools, nice neighborhood, accessible to Fairfax/Vienna metro, nature trail in neighborhood, community pool, close to downtown historic Fairfax. Fairfax City has a small town feel, lower taxes than the County and better services. Often appears on lists of the "best places to live".

So you're saying you'd have stayed put with neighbors like mine, all for the sake of a short commute?

i promise you -- the commute from Reston to downtown DC is not bad. (555 bus to WFC to Farragut west) 1 hour most days. it was 45 minutes when i lived in DC, taking the bus.

I hear ya! We started in a 2 BR TH, and were able to buy up a little based on the profit on that. We still only put 10% down on a $450k house. We DIY basically everything for house repair. Such is life at just over 6 figures!

Silver Spring near Forest Glen.

Nope. Lived nearby for over a decade several years ago. It was a great neighborhood.
