I know two people who got in, one turned down because of the commute and one accepted because of location (no interest in Spanish or sustainability).

And I would add commitment to high quality education to that.

And on the "Hard to explain but real" list of descriptors, I feel welcome as a family and parent and my child is enjoying being in a school that is serious about building community as well as education.

It's an awesome school. Happy for those who get in because so many are re-thinking the commute. Hopefully some of those getting in later in the process are really really excited about going. You can't have too many really excited parents in one school!

Could be, but it won't matter. Two Rivers (maybe 1/2 mile from MV's new location?) has the longest WL of any school - because there aren't as many schools in such proximity to the Hill. Whatever MV loses in Petworth can easily be replaced by Capitol Hill.

My kids are students there. I just dropped off residency stuff to the wait list director. I was telling her that the mommy forums are nuts with people trying to get in. She said that this cycle is the best cycle to get in because they are going from 3 kindergartens to 4, and same thing for pre-k. Good luck everyone! I know we all want to be on the golden path to DCI.
