^^ They cram into Brent and Maury and Two Rivers (easier to do after 1st grade), lottery their way across town or go private/parochial. Or they cash in and move out of DC.

While much of the focus is trying to get buy-in for Eliot Hine, maybe more of the focus should be on keeping potential Hill middle schoolers in the DCPS system.

Where are all those white families going? Surely there can't be so many open spots in charters or Maury?

Don't forget, SWS used to be at Peabody & feed into Watkins, before they started adding grades up. And didn't the kids at CHM@Logan used to be part of Watkins numbers?

You can't get into Brent after 1st grade anymore. Not so sure about Maury. It's not worth it to go 2 rivers after 1st grade -- you'll be leaving by 2nd grade anyway.

You are incorrect. Brent actively solicited OOB students for fifth this year and filled a few other spots for OOB students in other grades. Brent also may have a few spots for rising OOB K and 3d grade students next year as a result of adding another classroom, but those could be filled by siblings.

Do a lot of families really leave two rivers by second grade? Are re-enrollment stats available by grade?
