If the names of particular families were to be posted on DCUM, Jeff would quickly be informed and delete.

What stake do you have in this,PP? Seem to be trolling here. Literally just trying to flame a discussion.

The 15-20% difference you speak of is in the number of of OOB and IB kids overall, the 25%-30% change is the difference between the two. I assume that is what the other poster is referring to, so he/she can read, AND might have even taken a statistics class! Regardless, Eaton's school population, is mostly OOB, with higher numbers OOB in the upper grades, which are to be the ones feeding into middle school next year anyway.

Uh, we wish you well, but Hearst feeds into Deal and Eaton has choice (and has traditionally fed into Deal). But yes, we applaud your efforts!

Agreed. We live two blocks from Hearst. I wish Hardy well but have no idea how I could add a stop to Georgetown into our morning commute. It wouldn't be a neighborhood school at all for us.

I'm sorry, encouraging in-boundary attendance is not the same as eliminating OOB.

Principal Pride has said that she has asked to only have 15 seats available in the OOB lottery even though last year they were not full. She seems to believe that her budget will not be diminished if this happens. I don't know how except to over enroll the 7th and 8th grade.

Who are they trying to keep out?

But you'll have a middle schooler. He/she can get a 30 bus straight there on Wisconsin. No need for you to drive.

Starting this year, WMATA is free to middle schoolers on up!

This is moot as Hearst feeds Deal.

But maybe the PPPPP meant that hopefully Eaton and Hearst will have increasing numbers of in-boundary students by "this happens" not that they would feed Hardy. Even though Hardy seems great, Hearst is pretty close to Deal.

Mann is closer to Deal than Hardy.

OB Family currently at one of Hardy's feeder schools. Kid is top of her class (despite us being OB, how odd is this!!??) . She will go to Hardy next year, no matter what. We are not part of this "parents for Hardy" feeder school effort because we do not have the time and we do not have any decision to make. I know who they are, nice people, trying to do the best for their kids in a context of general prejudice and misinformation on Hardy. Kind of scaredy cats but not at all all white. We are not interested in being part of the network but will send anyhow a support message to their email.

We're OOB at a feeder school too and hope that Hardy will be a real option for us when our child heads to 6th in 3 years. Thanks for posting 10:10.

I don't think wanting your kid to get a good education has anything to do with race.

This board is so touchy-wutchy.
