I see nannies and people at the Metro who look kind of, well, FARMS-y, so obviously they can buy in this neighborhood! It wouldnt exclude anyone! Also, I like the PP's suggestion that we get lifetime preference for buying in what WILL be the HRCS's boundaries, even though those boundaries have't been developed yet since there's no current neighborhood preference for charters.

Also, frankly, I can't really afford to live in this neighborhood much longer, so as someone who posted on DCUM first about wanting HRCS to have neighborhood preference, I'd like the right to take over an office on the top floor as an apartment. If I live in the school, how can they ever turn my kids-to-be away?

Ok this is to funny I have tears I am laughing so hard.

Thank you, thank you, we're here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitresses!

No, HRCS has a great playground, it's just a mile outside of 495. It's no biggie - the PS and PK classes make a game of crossing 495 in different places every day. Just make sure your kid wears their reflective uniform - it's a bummer when kids don't.

+1

This is why I am considering drafting a charter for an A-C-A-I-P-I-J-C-F-C-ESL school. Let's start a multi-page thread about all of the great features such a school could have!

How do you say "green bean" in A-C-A-I-P-I-J-C-F-C-ESL?

I also have a few concerns about what I saw at the HRCS open house. Sure, the fifth graders performed surgery, but it was only an appendectomy, and the post-op instructions were not given in the target language. The third grade's project on monetary policy was just a rehash of Yellen's confirmation hearings, and that kindergartener who was translating "Pride and Prejudice" into the target language really did not grasp the satire.

Did two teachers just leave HRCS? Why are the parents being kept in the dark?

What school is the best HRCS in DC? I tried to search but it brought up 5 pages of posts about HRCS and I'm busy, can't be bothered to read it. Someone summarize please?

Is it true that all the funding to expand HRSC is being redirected to universal in bounds PK3?

HRCS has cancelled the open house speaker Michael Petrilli, and will be rescheduling a new speaker TBD.

Could someone please explain the algorithm for HRCS to me? I read the FAQ on the website but it's unclear if I get any extra weight in the lottery because I'm subletting a carriage house nearby.

Is this HRCS permanent location or are they moving? If so where? I cannot find any info on their website or read through this thread. Why is their website only in the target language?

How many native Klingon speakers attend HRCS? What are the demographics, 2 horned Klingons, 4 horned Klingons, Elves, etc and are they <20% FARMS?

Still not sure why native Klingon speakers can't test into the higher grades when other immersions schools on Earth and Klingon allow it. Stupid law should be changed.

Exactly. If I invest in Klingon tutoring for my child starting at age 2, I don't understand why DC won't prioritize my child's admission to a Klingon-immersion charter. Everyone would benefit.
