Disneyworld mansions in Potomac

We live on 5 acres, thus the house indeed fits the lot.

We have no gaudy fountains, nor curly trees at the entrance

I can vacuum the whole house myself in about 1/2 hour, because while large, it's laid-out well.

I have plenty of room for my rescue pets. They are most grateful.

Our heating and cooling bills are not outrageous because the house is energy tight. We put in an air exchanger when we built it so it breathes. We did extra water-proofing so it doesn't leak

We have no pool. We do have a hot tub set into the deck I do not stay here for the summer, mostly to avoid people who are like y'all.

Our house is exceptionally well-balanced. You might not like an element or two, but it's quite classic.

My landscaping is not the tacky crap that's so prevalent here in the DC area. We have an abundance of nice shrubs and trees, lots of flowers, antique roses, vines, etc. and I am putting together a lovely parterre garden for next year's growing season.

We have a dedicated home theatre, therefore we do not spend a ton of money going out to the movies. I've entertained in there, my kids have had theme parties, and overall, it's paid for itself over and over. It has no tacky velvet rope or curtain. It is beige and black.

My property IS my property. I can do what I want with it and don't really care what you do with yours. When you spend time insulting other people's taste, I do wonder about you. Bigtime.

JeeZUZ, you sound completely insufferable. How does the layout of a house impact one's ability to vacuum it? Seriously? Even if it's poorly laid out and totally "open", or completely closed off, there are still floors everywhere. What a dumb statement. Frankly, I've never tried to vacuum mine by myself in its entirety, so I have no idea how long it takes. Nobody has ever tried to do it alone. I'm not even sure I believe you. Or it's probably not as large as you're alluding.

Whoo cares if your pets are rescues? Irrelevant.

Classic? Pictures please, we'll see. I've never heard of a classic home that hs a theatre in it.

Georgian colonial is a classic style. Plugging and unplugging vacuums take time.

Up sufferable is laughing at the 'poor taste' of others you clearly look down on.

So you vacuum your own house? You can afford the house, but not a housekeeper? LOL

I choose to. We paid cash for the house. Affordability is not relevant.

Not the PP, but I prefer to use housekeepers for deeper cleanings and do basic things, like vacuum occasionally, myself.

I am the pp. Correct.

Everybody has the right to do with his property what he wants (within building restrictions etc..

But everybody has also the right to have and utter views about what other people do with their property - especially if poor taste is as publically on display as in Potomac.

Nobody has the right to do with his property what he wants AND hear only good things about it.

I don't think either side is attempting to censor anybody so I don't know what the point of that post is.

That's true. I'm just consistently stu punned by the viciousness in this area. Perhaps I should just consider it normal...

What you mean with 'viciousness'?

You know, my cousin who is squeezed into her little house in Tenley admitted that she can't wait until her sons move out and they are under 8! She simply has no space.

We live in Potomac. My kids are always in the stream behind our house playing. The neighborhood is full of loud kids running in and out. Lots of huge trees. We don't shop, so no need to be close to stores. Grocery once a week and that's that. We aren't spendy types and would rather be kayaking than shopping.

The constant making fun of others and insults, as if y'all are the only ones in the country with any modicum of taste and intelligence. The sneering and looking down at others. Really trashy behavior.

Oh, I do too. We drive past it all the time on our way to soccer games in Poolesville, and it makes me smile every time. I especially love the iron eagles that guard the gates. Do you think the palm trees are real or fake? This is a debate in our family.

Here it is for you folks who don't travel River Road: http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Magazine/March-April-2013/Extreme-Homes/index.php?cparticle=3&siarticle=2#artanc

So glad to read about the story behind this house, which is also one of our favorites on our soccer trips to Poolesville. It's definitely an interesting house.

How funny! In case we have similar taste in food (as well as architecture and landscaping), I recommend that you try the Mexican Grill (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mexican-grill-poolesville-2) near the Subway if you haven't already. They are sadly no longer open on Sundays, but they are fabulous for post-game tacos on Saturdays.
