Dora the Explorer (and others I can't name now) - so many of their problems are something sitting in the middle of the path they're on. So they call in an airplane/helicopter/something else no one else has at their beck and call to go over the obstacle. And I sit there saying "WALK AROUND IT." Seriously, I get that you're not supposed to walk on other people's grass, but the way to get around a mud puddle in your path is to charter a HELICOPTER and not just walk around it????

And The Cat in the Hat has become much more tolerable since my husband and I made up the backstory that the kids are siblings of a biracial lesbian couple. Observe next time. There's never a dad, they only ever ask permission from one mom (not both their moms, which they would presumably do to go as far away as they do with the Cat if they weren't in the same family), and the Cat seems to say "your moms won't mind" if the kids go away with him. And separately - the only voice of reason in the whole show is the GOLDFISH?

Forget CPS, I'm calling animal control and getting George carted off in a cage. Other Curious George questions -- why does Allie always defer to George's judgement? Don't get me started on the fresh beat band.

Why do they wear the same outfit every day? Are they supposed to be kids? If not, what kind of creepy school has 4 adults living in a co-ed group house to attend music school.

And did they think we wouldn't notice they pulled an I Dream of Genie with Marina? You can't just put a new girl in the old girl's outfit and dye her hair red.

And do they think we don't know they cut and paste the film to edit in the same "we had a great day....the very best day...." clips? Get some new choreography, FBB.

I'm fairly certain I heard her mom call her doc the other day. I also wondered why she was still wearing her headband in the bathtub while she washed her hair. That seems like it wouldn't work very well. Doc irritated me the first time I watched it because her diagnoses are always ridiculous, as was her treatment. I don't mind it so much now, maybe I've just gotten used to it.


My son is obsessed with Chuggington. I cannot stand Koko. She just seems like such a brat. And it bothers me that Wilson mispronounces elephant (Yay! An Efelant!") I know he's supposed to be a kid but still.


And this isn't show related, but the book Curious George and the Rocket really bothers me. Why did they build a rocket ship that was too small for a human in the first place if they didn't already have a monkey to go up in it? and was George's only job to pull the lever once it got into the sky? And his medal says "To George, the First Space Monkey" but he never actually went to space... he went up in the air, and then came down in a parachute a few minutes later.

And I'm sick of Curious George getting in trouble all the time. He was KIDNAPPED from the jungle, thrown into totally inappropriate situations over and over and then scolded when he acted like a MoNKEY. Insane. I actually got rid of our books. Couldn't read them without ranting about it.

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. We LOVE the show.

But: Daniel's mom wears a shirt and pants but neither Daniel nor his Dad wear pants unless they are wearing (trolley) pajamas. I guess it could be a take on an evolving society, but even my 3.5 year old wants to know about this.

Also, the potty song is great: "If you have to go potty, stop and go right away, flush and wash and be on your way." Would have been great if they could have added "wipe" to that song. Now we hear, "but Daniel doesn't wipe" or the "song doesn't say to wipe." Our reply is "that's because Daniel is a tiger and tigers don't wipe. Only humans."

We have an old copy of Curious George rides a bike. In that story, to celebrate the anniversary of when George came to live with the Man in the Yellow Hat, the MiYH plans to take George to an animal show.

So, they're going to celebrate the anniversary of when he was kidnapped by going to see other animals in captivity???

Yes! And in the original Curious George Gets a Medal, he only agrees to go up in the rocket after getting in trouble at the museum. The head of the museum says that he'll drop all the charges and not send George to the zoo (aka jail) if he'll agree to do this risky this. Holy exploitation!

And the man with a yellow hat is a seriously terrible father.
