Duggars in DC

Anonymous
The members of the Westoboro Baptist Church declare their homes as church property. they have done this for years and all their homes open to a "baptismal pool" in their shared backyard area. The pool looks like any other nice residential pool.

I've seen pictures of it but I'm having difficulty finding them now.

Here is an article: http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2001/spring/a-city-held-hostage/on-the-inside#.UZRSKYLwQsc

Homeschooling pays off!

Why the hate?

What is it about this happy, loving family that brings out the worst in DCUM?

They're not a loving family, they're a cult family.

They don't believe in obtaining a college education because they think exposing yourself to knowledge will corrupt them, they pretty much enslave their daughters to take care of their other kids - the daughters don't really have a choice. The kids have no friends except each other, because again, corruption or purity or some other BS. The parents aren't interested in fostering a sense of openness and exploration that makes for healthy kids - they're interested in controlling and brainwashing them with immense amounts of fear. If this family were Muslim but did/believed the same things, you can bet there'd be much more expressed outrage about their cultish ideas.

They could still come in handy when we need soldiers. Not everyone can go to Sidwell and Harvard and then work for Goldman Sachs and live in a high walk-score neighborhood.

They're not allowed to join the military because their commander might be a woman or non-Christian. ALERT camp is the closest they'll get.

Exactly - and ALERT camp is all organized and controlled by their cult leader, Gothard:

According to TWOP a family friend says they are going to live in Virginia.

Did anyone see this week's episode? I've never watched it but the Post says that this week featured them house hunting in DC. Anyone watch and know the details?
Anonymous
Since this is an anonymous forum I can admit that I saw part of the episode. They walked around and looked up listings and were surprised that they were $1-2M. Then the kids ran around some dirty park. Disclaimer - I was doing something else at the time so I didn't catch all of the details.

God I hope they move here and she gets a decent haircut. Plus maybe a clue.

Where are they going to live? Rural Virginia, duh.

OP here - just noticed this in the recent topics.

I watched this week but only the parts in DC. They played in Farragut park.

I seriously think I will stop watching altogether now that I see he is going to work for a hate group.

Do the Duggars give other people the creeps like they do me?

They will never be able to afford a six-bedroom house in Arlington or Fairfax to stow all the junior Duggars they will be creating. They already have two, right?

Don't the Sr. Duggars live in a 3 bedroom house?

No, there are more than three bedrooms, though not many more because the bedrooms the kids all share are gigantic.

There is a master bedroom, a boys' dorm, girls' dorm, and Grandma Mary's washerwoman's room off the laundry room.

OK, I got to ask. What is a "good-bye room"? Is it where you lay out your dead?

The boys room have a slide down to a play/game room. The girls have a sewing room. And also, a much smaller living space compared to the boys.

How do I hate the Duggars? Let me count the ways. Misogynistic assholes.

Omg i was just googling what a good bye room might be and I think it's something they've made up. Sort of like Jesus.
Anonymous
Good bye room is probably a mud room where they come inside and hang coats, and say good bye.
Anonymous
I think the goodbye room is their mudroom. It's the only room that has logical access to the outside that isn't the front door, so it's probably where they say goodbye and pick up or drop off their stuff.
