Maybe because they teach Chinese

Better question: why so *few* AAs at YY.

Probably because so few AAs are interested in learning Chinese, and a far smaller percentage of AAs applied as compared to others. Again, pure statistics.

YY is 48% AA, that is a higher percentage than any other immersion school. Why are people so quick to jump on YY?

It is ridiculous how people love to trash YY---Along with having almost 50% AA, there are only 16% asians at YY and those are ALL asians (south east asian, korean, as well as chinese) It is low on Hispanics because many of them do not choose a third language and prefer a spanish/english setting. It is one of the most truly diverse schools in DC. Now I'll sit back and wait for the inevitable dumping from the YY trolls out there....

Horrendous mess, do tell in what way. You still had areas that were considered very substantial and lucrative. We never became a Detroit and even when we were labeled the murder captiol of the world, we still survived and produced an educated population.

I'm the PP you quoted and I couldn't agree more. I have no affiliation to YY but wanted to point out that YY appears very diverse in my opinion.

It's just more of the same uninformed, backward, anti-Charter, anti-everything trash...

Unfortunately, YY practices tracking - and this is where you find many of their AA students.

and there you go. the YY troll brigade at work.

Oh, and of course tracking in schools is always, always, always solely based on skin color and never, never, never has anything at all to do with the fact that kids might actually be behind the rest of the students and need heavy remediation.
