I thought Sheridan was selling the "mountain campus". There's a recent thread on it. Also, that's a new name for it. When our neighbor went through the school it was just the required parent-child camping trip required every fall which the mom loathed and the kid got head lice from. Much like Calleva except the parents went. Not something mom looked forward to at all. |

From the recent thread (and confirmed by the school), mountain campus is not being sold.
But thanks for chiming in to answer PP's bump asking about info on HS placement. |
Sheridan isn't selling Mountain Campus. And I'm pretty sure one parent isn't asked to accompany the K and 1 st graders anymore because the little kids don't stay overnight. That's a change from when DC's were k/1. No parents -must- attend at this point -- kids go with teachers and a couple of parent volunteers might also go w 2nd grade. 3rd+ is just the kids. It's probably not for everyone, no doubt. That's why it's great there are several quality choices in the immediate area. I guess our family would loathe wearing uniforms or mandatory attendance at chapel or meeting for worship or Mass. |
| Good, because that annual fall bonding trip with parent was really unpleasant with parents. Too cold. Dirty mattresses. |

School is Not selling MC. |
| Very strong in fact. 3 Sidwell acceptances, as well as others at Maret, GDS among others. Sheridan is solid and has great exmissions stats every year. |
| their high school placement program is really, really strong. they are low key about everything there, but I know the last few years 90%+ of the 8th graders have gotten into their first choice schools and all the kids have ended up with really good options. this year i heard sidwell, gds, st albans, field, bullis, burke and madeira are the top schools for sheridan kids. |
| Yep, great outplacement again this year. |
| Wow -- sorry, so many Sheridan posters sound like the Walking Dead. It is tiny, it is full of BS parents, and the 1-class per grade feeds bullying cliques all the way. If you read through the thread, there are far more posts explaining why the school is so wonderful than there are first hand experiences of wonderfulness. To the posters who give tips on outside sports, find friends not in the Sheridan school, etc…. -- read between the lines! |
Serious question: having you been drinking tonight? |
