The taxpayers don't pay for the romney's vacations

You missed the premise of the thought experiment. I realize you're not very bright, but come on, this is basic stuff.

No, you'll need to think through your "thought experiment"; it's a few thoughts short.

No, the pp is right - you are not very bright.

Also, if Romney's becomes the POTUS - he and his family will have to take Air Force 1 to fly and will have to bring SS with them. And that will be paid for by taxpayer $.

In spite of that, I think Michelle hit it out of the ball park with her speech last night. It did what it needed to do, it humanized the president, which is hard to do for any president after 4 years of policy fights. It emphasized that he was the everyman who lived the American dream and became president.

But, I still know Michelle Obama has in her the "first time I have ever felt proud of my country" spirit. I know that the campaign outside of the convention is highly negative on both sides and that all politicians lie. Michelle gave a good speech, but she is not nor will she be president in the next few years. She might make a fine president, but this is about Barack and the Democrats and Romney and the Republicans.

Plain and simple: "It's the Economy, Stupid."

For you, perhaps, but as a woman of child bearing age, the Republicans' obsession with my and every other woman's reproductive capacity is disturbing. Romney wants to cut all funding to Planned Parenthood. I don't know you, obviously, but the anti-choice people in my life are frequently the ones who think sex education teaches kids how to be sluts, believe birth control is a sin, complain about the ungodliness of abortion, and then bitch and moan that there are a certain kind of people who "keep having kids." And if you haven't met these all-star thinkers, I am very glad for you. The threat to reproductive freedom, even birth control! is at stake.

And if Obama trends left, good! He's been a moderate Republican these past four years.

A very balanced and fair post. I would add, with regard to your last statement, I agree -- it's the economy, stupid. However, I don't think that going back to policies of deregulation and tax cuts is the path back to prosperity. We've got a ways to go, but the president's record is not one to run from. We've gone from an economy shedding 800,000 jobs a month as a result of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression to one that is actually adding jobs -- and has for 29 straight months. http://www.barackobama.com/jobsrecord/ The Dow was below 8,000 at the close of the market on Jan. 20, 2009. http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/20/markets/markets_newyork/index.htm Today it's over 13,000.

I know that it's important not to dwell on appearance and to listen to the substance of the speeches, but I found that both Michelle Obama and Ann Romney looked great delivering their speeches. It is nice to see strong, smart women who are attractive and comfortable in their skin.

Michelle's speech, however, was genius. That woman knows how to deliver a message with passion and sincerity.

Regrettably the Republicans have made it about way more than the economy. For that grade to work, at least one party has to buy it.

If it's the economy, stupid, Americans are pretty much evenly divided on who will do a better job with the economy: http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/polling/regardless-romney-obama-candidate/2012/07/09/gIQAmGOshU_page.html

You need meds for your mood congruent delusions. Nobody is obsessed with your reproductive capacity, okay? This is not China. You are free to bear children or to have an abortion. This is the U.S.A. The year is 2012. (in case you believe you are a secret agent and you need to fix your time machine to get back to the year 2030). Psycho.

We had 4 YEARS of nothing but words. Talk is cheap.

And criticizing her teeth is immature, shallow and beneath any sophisticated woman.

There is NO reason not to love Michelle, except racism. Sorry. She's sweet, dresses great and grows vegetables. What's not to love?

BTW -- I am white and an independent and I don't agree with a lot of Obama's policies, but Michelle? Please. She is seriously his better half and if you can't see that, it truly is YOUR problem.

So if someone doesn't like Michelle Obama, they are a racist? (this is such nonsense!)

Okay, then if someone doesn't like Anne Romney, they are a bigot who hates whites and mormons.

No. When someone makes racist comments, they are a racist.

Its natural to compare Michelle's speech to Ann's because were all going to to it with their husbands but the petty insults are absurd.

Ann Romney made a fine speech and held her own and I think though that Michelle hit a chord with some people that made hers a bit better.

At the end of the day, neither lady is going to make policy so there is no need for all this back and forth

Ann Romney's speech was completely forgettable. Michelle's speech was illustrative about her husband, while Ann's was merely filled with adjectives, not examples. I am really surprised Ann'e speechwriters did not do a better job for her. It is really Speech 101. The only thing I remember from Ann's speech was when she shouted " I love women!", which was cheesy.

If you can't see what's wrong with the post that some idiot wrote about Michelle Obama (i.e., that it's RACIST), then you have issues.
