Collectively, that is the ugliest group of names I've ever heard. Michaela? Barf. It's almost as bad as Lark.

OP - you've got a tidy little group here, and there's consensus: Lark is pretty bad. Why not Willa as PP suggests? You almost sound like the mother who wanted to name her defenseless child Journey. Both names are hugely conspicuous. Like Holden for a boy.

What does this mean? I know what conspicuous means, it just doesn't make sense in this context. Holden is a real name, unlike Journey. ??

If you don't personally know any Holdens and you meet one, what's your first thought? Holden Caulfield, right? "The Catcher in the Rye made such a huge impact on my life that I always knew I'd have a son named Holden." It's like the name Atticus, or Rand, for that matter - it's just meant to telegraph, as loudly as possible, the parents' literary pretensions. From a book they read in the tenth grade.

What about Willa?

Pp here, I guess someone else suggested it as well. I love Willa and it has the same vibe as Lark while being a real name. Audrey is pretty and Christina is, too, but I just don't care much for either (personally). I tend toward family names, do you have any pretty choices that honor a special family member in your life?

I like Audrey. And Willa. You could also consider Antonia, another Willa Cather name.

Yes, Holden Caulfield comes to mind. And William Holden. But since it doesn't necessarily strike me as "pretentious: making usually unjustified or excessive claims (as of value or standing)". Perhaps because I don't really think that someone would name their kid that because of the huge impact of the book, but rather just because they like the name. But I can see where it might seem that way to you.

FWIW, I don't really have a dog in the fight either way.

I do think it is sort of an "excessive claim" to name a child after a book that everyone reads and loves (TKAM, not so much TCITR). I don't have a dog in it, either. Just opinions that Hey! OP asked for.

I guess I am in the minority but I think Lark is the best one on your list. I really dislike Christina and Audrey.

Lark

Christina

Audrey: old-fashioned
Lark: what if she likes to sleep in?
Christina: can't help be reminded of that stuck up diva Aguilera

Don't get me wrong, I have a total mom name myself. I just wouldn't want my daughter to have a name that was so common in my own generation. Something about it just seems odd to me.

I cracked up when I saw this. Ack! I despise Sarah Palin - but totally love Buffy!

Sarah is not as popular as it once was, but I'm pretty sure it is still in use by baby namers.

Nope. It's Hilary, as in Hilary Duff (the actress) and Hillary Clinton (the political figure). Also means happy/cheerful.

OP, I like Audrey and Willa. Not so much on Lark or Christina.
