So well put. And, like I said earlier, the concept of liberty has been reduced to a talking point for the right wing. |
Yeah. We don't need police, firemen, a military....... |
Yes, they used call them Rockefeller Republicans. |
Taxation is the ultimate attack in liberty.
>>>>>>>>>>>> No. Taxation relates to property. There is a much more important measure of liberty, the liberty of your own person. Slavery would be the ultimate attack on liberty. |
Followed by being forced by the government to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term. |
Great point. Interestingly enough, Lincoln was Republican. A very Smart Republican, perhaps inspiration for that "separate party"? |
And, of course, we don't need public education! |
If taxation is the ultimate attack on Liberty, the Founding Fathers, in their infinite wisdom, would have put it in the Bill of Rights. Instead, they enumerated it as a power in the First Article of the Constitution. ZOMG!??? How did that get in there??? Sorry, wingnut, you are on the wrong side of history. |
I've thought for years that gerrymandering is a huge root of the DC problem--very few "back home" have to run to the middle to get here. There are some movements in certain states to correct the excesses such as we've seen in TX and right here in MD.
If we had a cast of characters in congress who learned to speak to both sides back home we might be further along to some reasonable compromises. |
and one only need to see/hear the birth certificate "joke" romney made today to highlight what i said the other day. one can go back and forth with me equating the joke to obama poking fun at romney's dog or some other nonsense. the point though is that the "fringe" element who believe the birther nonsense is fired up and reasonable republicans have to go out there "defending" the joke with ad hominem line of arguments to keep them happy. |
I think you need to start a movement; the "reasonable republican" movement. Shed the extremeist contributions to ideology. Not like your gonna lose the redneck vote to Obummer. |
i doubt any republican would follow me to the "reasonable republican" party considering that im a democrat |
You can use our home. The family room is big enough for a party of 10. |
I was a Moderate Repiblican om another life and now am an Independent . Independents need to form their own platform , have a convention and become a third-party and nominate our own candidates for all elective offices. We could do no worse than the present two parties . Out og 300 million people , and we have Obamaand Romney to choose between the lessor of two evils. |
