OK, I know how you DCUMers will answer -- nobody would qualify for membership. But really, some of us who believe in more limited government and think the Democratic Party is (and the recent Republican administration was) not fiscally responsible are becoming increasingly embarrassed by the wahoos in the party. What to do? |
Seriously. Sign me up. |
You can call it the Selfish Asshole Party. But you'd never win anything without whipping up all the stupid people with scary things like gay marriage, death panels and big government. |
By all means, PLEASE do so. |
Stop being intimidated by the Tea Baggers and religious fanatics and take control of your own party. The GOP has nobody to blame but themselves. |
Yes, it's called Democrats! Seriously, I'm a registered Independent buuuuut there is no way in hell I am ever voting along with tea partiers or the religious right |
sorry..... until a republican is this stupid, the democrats are the stupid party.

Sounds good to me. I'm voting Dem by default. Get the religious Christian Nation BS out of your party, and I'm on your side. |
I am a Dem and I have been arguing on this board for four straight years that the GOP needs to reinvent itself on a narrow platform of limited government. They can dump the social issues and stop pandering to the wingnuts. This would allow them to pick up a lot of people in the middle and even some on the left who are there only because they don't like the Republican attacks on liberty. |
Taxation is the ultimate attack in liberty. |
I wish - it's really difficult for us right-leaning centrists who are socially liberal. I think a new party needs to be formed because this right-wing crap isn't cutting it. |
I'm with you. I lean more Republican than Democrat but issue by issue I'm split.
Abortion and Gay marriage, I'm a republican Gun control, environment and general energy issues, I'm a democrat The big budget, defense and entitlement spending issues I'm generally more republican but even then believe that there's lots of room for compromise. |
It wouldn't really be a party, though - more like a small get-together.
Thanks, folks, I'm here all week. Try the veal, and tip your waiters. |
I hate to break this to you, but if the new party of "smart" republicans were designed along the lines the OP and others have suggested, you wouldn't be in the party you appear to think you would be. |
How about this party ? Where would I fit in? I tell you where: nowhere currently!
pro-life smaller fed govt, less taxes conservative on social issue like gay marriage pro-charter schools and things like tuition vouchers anti-gun control pro-environment pro-animal rights anti-capital punishment |
