s/o; does your name have a y in it and if so, are you low class?

Here is another one I am not fond of, and which I put in the same category:

Dani

(as a nickname for Danielle)

Getting a little bit to the bottom of the pack. Kind of like Brittany or Chelsey/Chelsea.

Brittney is even worse.

There is a Josy in my daughter's class. I keep wanting to tell her mom that she's spelled her child's name wrong.

Not a big fan either. Sounds like a stripper.

Is your name "Buffy"?

Please... My husband's ultra-WASP family has 5 women named "Elizabeth' in it. They all have WASP-y nicknames, including "Buffy." (Betts, Buffy, Betty, Bitsy, Boots). Other super-WASPy nicknames are: Kiki, Molly, Kitty, Tippi, (or Tipper), Muffy. It's only "low class" to social climberswho were born without any class.

It's called, a joke. You really know Kitty, Buffy, etc? Ugh that is some high class trash right there.

Clearly, you'd know.

What do you think of Annie or Joanie? As a nickname?

OP probably does not read much. Both my first name and last name have y in it.

OH dear. Yes, this would bug me too. I might purposefully misspell it as "Josie."

LOL. OK, I wouldn't, but I would want to.

Yes, agree.

Like some others, I have a "Y" in my name and somehow missed the memo that it's a sign of being "low class." I thought we were still assigning that label to kids named after pop stars and consumer products.

I think this one is cute, as long as it's a nickname.

Did anyone watch The Bacehlorette when the guy Kiptyn was on? He seemed like he was from a well-to-do family, I was surprised by that spelling.

Maybe it's to differentiate Jozy from Josie (soft s).
