You dont if you are willing to live in a typical suburban neighborhood like the rest of America. They don't live "close in" or in a "walkable" neighborhood or within a few blocks to the nearest metro stop. We add these expectations and then complain about how much money it costs to live. |

yeah, my question is...how far up your ass is your head?
You are out of your goddamn mind if you think anyone capable of affording a $1M home could even remotely qualify as middle class. Even in this metro area. And please, almost $600K as lower middle class? Good lord. That Mclean house is absolutely hideous. |
cool, I am glad to know that. Any who, I aspire to be middle class house #1 so I will work harder. |
|
How tO be rich and get house #2 step 1) Be rich step 2) go to step 1 |
yes, because working harder is the answer...only if you're in that lucky few that gets 6 figure bonuses. |
| ADD med popper, is that you? "If only I could live on only 2 hours of sleep and do ALL my communications with my children by computer and fax machine, I could bill more hours." |
Good idea when your bill rate is $300/hour |
and then you die at 40 and never get to actually enjoy all those fancy things you bought with all the money you made
|
40 is the new 80 |
And with all that money you can look like you're 20. 20 on the outside and 80 on the inside. |
there you go - at least you'll look good as a corpse in the box |
Damn straight! I dont want anyone looking at all my wrinkles when im in that casket. |
Good observation. My guess is that this has to do with the affordability of new build in the NE. In other words, in the NE, new build is more expensive and therefore larger homes. In Texas or on the west coast people can buy new build for 250-500K so there is demand for 'affordable' new build as well as McMansions. That doesn't exist in DC unless you count Herndon. |
