The better question would be "which parts are not snobbish?" |
| I do think it is insecurity also. B/c why else would they feel the need to press the issue so much? Methinks they are protesting too much. |
| Oh I don't protest at all, I just don't put myself in the situation to be around people obsessed with juicy or big label Coach sunglasss |
These ladies that you are so quick to criticize most likely like their lives and most likely will not change soon. How your you so different from them? |
OH no, sorry, I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about the ladies in the other parts of the country, so to speak. Like, if they are fine with their lives, why are they bringing it up so much when we go to visit them? Like "I just could NEVER NEVER NEVER live in DC! I just couldn't!" Sorry my post was unclear. |
I think the ladies on this thread are protesting too much. I don't see a lot of difference in the two groups of women. You are all catty. |
They won't, which is why we don't say anything to them there, but we can still have our own thoughts and opinions about it, as voiced here. |
So what? You could NEVER NEVER NEVER live where they do. You just couldn't! BFD they prefer a different locality than you. Does that make you superior? The Manhattan socialites feel the same way about the DC wantabees. It is all a matter of perspective. |
1. The part where OP says they "only" have one college degree; 2. The part where OP says their house "only" costs $100000; 3. The part where OP complains that they wear Coach sunglasses and Juicy Couture sweatsuits (and other people call them tacky); |
| I don't go around criticizing people are talking about how I am better than someone that wears juicy or is a white trash "millionaire", I just am never around it and don't care to be. I go on with my life as if it doesn't exist. Maybe that's the difference I don't sit around and belittle them bc it's not even something I think about |
| I feel like a total idiot living here and envy these women their $200,000 huge homes. I would love to have a bigger house than the half a million box of a townhouse I can afford here. I'd love for my daughter to have an actual yard to play in and a room big enough where she can keep her toys. So who's got the better end of the deal?? US? I don't think so. We just overpay for things. That doesn't make any of us rich. |
+1 |
ITA. I wish DH could find a job somewhere in the South. My ideal is Wilmington, NC. I can find a teaching job anywhere, but he is the primary breadwinner and his work is here for now. I would love to get a house that is twice the size of our tiny 1950s rambler for $200,000 and have a short commute for both of us and a great quality of life. They win, hands down. DC is so overrated. And I'm from here. |
I don't feel this way. I looove this area. I grew up here, went away for school and abroad for a few years, but returned eventually to have a family. I love all the diversity, the things to do, the educational opportunities, the constant changing and updating, the educated citizenry, I could go on and on. I would not want to live in an area that didn't have these things. So I believe I'd be very unhappy in a place like OP has described and would really feel like a fish out of water. So, in the end, I guess it's good that people have diff tastes and diff opinions on the ideal place to live, or else we'd all end up trying to live in the same place! |
| For me the most offensive thing about these women is that they are label whoring trashy crap. Not everything needs to be expensive I have cute tos from old navy but would never even put on a juicy track suit let alone wear it as a status symbol |
