I feel like a total idiot living here and envy these women their $200,000 huge homes. I would love to have a bigger house than the half a million box of a townhouse I can afford here. I'd love for my daughter to have an actual yard to play in and a room big enough where she can keep her toys. So who's got the better end of the deal?? US? I don't think so. We just overpay for things. That doesn't make any of us rich.
ITA. I wish DH could find a job somewhere in the South. My ideal is Wilmington, NC. I can find a teaching job anywhere, but he is the primary breadwinner and his work is here for now. I would love to get a house that is twice the size of our tiny 1950s rambler for $200,000 and have a short commute for both of us and a great quality of life. They win, hands down. DC is so overrated. And I'm from here.
