What happened to "Respect our Troops"?

It's "Support 97.2% of Our Troops."

Respect the troops who are registered Republicans. All others are betraying their country.

So...which soldiers can I boo now b/c of what I believe they represent? I'd like a comprehensive list, so you guys don't get pissed at me later.

I know of a bunch of U.S. soldiers who were often booed for what they represented: returning Vietnam vets. I think that was fucked up, but I guess you're cool with it.

But wait - don't you think that Kerry betrayed his brothers after the war?

I'm so confused...

if a solider stands up and identifies himself as a returning vet, you applaud and thank him for his service. if he stands up and starts going on and on about homosexual rights, you boo him.

Are you sure that's a comprehensive list? What if he stands up and says that abortion should be legal?

What if he goes on about something I disagree with, like value of the Iraq War? It's cool if I boo him then?

(BTW, I won't actually boo him regardless, b/c I think that's childish.)

Is he allowed to ask candidates if they will fire him once they are elected? Is that going on and on?

So, just to be clear, you fully support the booing of the soldier (who was actually still in Iraq) during the debate? You aren't part the group that feels that a couple people's booing is being exaggerated? If you had been there, you would have been booing?

Exactly. There's no call for our fighting men to inject themselves into political debates like that. Unless it's on a topic that I personally agree with. Then his or her speech is the most fundamental right that Americans hold dear. It's the same measured position conservatives take in relation to celebrities: they should never ever say anything about politics because it's just so very wrong unless they agree with me.

I think the reaction by the candidates was pretty telling: not a single one of them said anything at the time, or would even respond to questions about it afterward. Why? Because if they repudiated it, they'd lose the GOP primary. If they supported the booing, they'd feel like scumbags, and possibly take a hit in the general election.

So they did the safe thing and acted like cowardly pieces of shit.

QUESTION: In 2010, when I was deployed to Iraq, I had to lie about who I was, because I'm a gay soldier, and I didn't want to lose my job.
My question is, under one of your presidencies, do you intend to circumvent the progress that's been made for gay and lesbian soldiers in the military?

Question. How is two sentences and 55 words "going on and on"? The guy has a right to know if they will fire him if elected.

Haven't you heard? Only the interests of white, middle-class, Christian, conservative Americans are legitimate. Everyone who dares ask a question and who doesn't look like Wilford Fucking Brimley wearing a tri-corner hat is a "special interest."

no, I think the booing was exaggerated and I would not have been booing if I were there. I was just clarifying that my take on it was they were booing the reference to don't ask, don't tell, and not the actual solider himself. It is no secret that repealing DADT is not a popular position amongst the right. If a solider in Iraq was asking a question about raising taxes then I guess a few would boo him as well.

I think you are right, but your characterization of a serious question as "going on and on about homosexual rights" was so overblown that your point was lost.

Oh you mean the "I would like to live my life in the open the way everyone else can" agenda?

No because see if he was a decent *real* American he would've said something about his wife or something. Gay agenda-spewikng homiosexuals need to stop rubbing our faces with their sex. Do the decent thing and lie about the details of your life. Think about it likke a "closet" of privacy; stuff about fighting terrorists and stuff is ok. Keep the private stuff in the "closet".

It's the same thing as when black people tell personal stories about how racism has affected them: it's makes people uncomfrotable. If you want to be treated like a straight white Christian, you need to pretend you *are* a straight with Christian. What could be fairer?
